Envato.com = *cool* after all.

Update as of 8/25/09 (26/8/09 Australian): Envato and I have agreed to amicably disagree on some issues, but they have made me an nice offer which I cannot disclose *wink.* I thought I'd share a portion of their latest email message, to show off their better side.

Note for me: http://www.envato.com/birthday/ is still alive... ALIVE! (as of this very moment)

Is Envato support clueless?

**Update as of 8/25/09 (26/8/09 Australian) posted above.

Last week, I saw a cool software bundle from http://envato.com/birthday/. $300 worth of software for $20. So I go to the web page and try to buy it on the 21st of August... but the page returned an error.

Below is a copy of my back-and-forth email correspondence with Envato support, about the issue. I'm not trying to be mean or a jerk here... I'm just trying to make a point. If I were Envato, I would have acknowledged the error, apologized and sold me the bundle for $20.

Hi: It's the August 21st here where I am, and when I click on http://themeforest.net/ or http://envato.com/birthday/ I see a site to purchase the Birthday Bundle for $20 but when I click on the click here to buy it now" link, I am taken to http://themeforest.net/item/the-birthday-bundle-2009/54759 and I get a "page not found" error. Can you please help me with this?

Thanks... -gj

Hey there!

Thanks for your email. Unfortunately it sounds as though you have missed the download window. The file was available for purchase between the 19th-21st of August - Australian Eastern Time. It is now the 22/08 as such the purchase links have been removed.

I wish I could do more to help, but there is nothing I can do now that this window has passed.

Kind Regards,
Anis

Well that's a big fail on your part, since when I went to envato.com on MY 21st of August, the "Birthday Bundle Banner" was still at the top of the site. That's the link that I clicked on.

I understand the time difference, but here in America, one is accountable for truth in advertising. I have no idea what the law in Australia is and I'm upset that I cannot take advantage of the offer as advertised.

All and all, at least this will make a good 'blog post to my almost 6,000 Twitter followers.

(Note to my almost 6,000 Twitter followers - sorry if I seemed douchy here. I was mad.)

Hi acomputerpro,

Sorry for this, unfortunately the banner errornously
(sic) stayed on the website for several hours after the offer had closed. However there is nothing we can do to make this available to you.

Thanks,

Well today is my 23rd of August (your 24th) and the banner is still there. You guys should be embarrassed. Perhaps you may want to research it (by checking your OWN website) before telling me that the banner had stayed on the website for several hours after the offer had closed. How about SEVERAL DAYS?

Time to go public with this blunder. Customer support is what you lack.

SquareSpace Blog - Day One

I think I've decided on SquareSpace for the website, content and 'blog. Don't worry, I don't write long. I'm Twitter trained so I get to the point.

On Tuesday 8/11/09: a computer minute begins airing on 1520 KVTA, Live 105.5 and 95.9 The Octopus. I'm excited about that. Audio is coming to the website as well as netcasts and vodcasts. Stay tuned.
